my story.
Many know me as the "no flow, no glow" esthetician. But that wasn’t always my approach. The first 9 of my 24 years of practice were much more conventional than holistic. Although I always aspired to a holistic approach, I hadn’t yet found the way.
That changed during my time in acupuncture school. Halfway through a master's program in acupuncture, I stepped away due to personal reasons, but the time spent immersed in that philosophy profoundly shifted how I saw the world. Truly a life-changing experience. I began to see everything as energy, flow vs. stagnation. I also learned how our unprocessed, unacknowledged emotions affect our health at a foundational level, including the health of our skin—and how deeply connected we are to nature.
My journey deepened with Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) training 15 years ago—recognized as the gold standard in lymph drainage. A few years before this, I began my training in somatic therapy through the Jade Tao Method, which I personally consider the gold standard of somatic therapy. This is the foundation of all of my facials.
Shortly after my MLD training, I discovered Laurel Whole Plant Organics (then Sequoia Beauty) and learned how what we apply to our skin can influence our lymphatic system—and so much more—which changed my perspective on skincare forever. I later became friends with Laurel, taught for her brand, and even created her signature face massage.
Around the same time, I found ASTECC, an incredibly high-level, old-world spa medicine school, and began training with them a few years later. I also connected with Dr. Ping Zhang, whose facial rejuvenation books had inspired me in acupuncture school. After meeting with her for gua sha training, she invited me to teach for her, which I did for over two years.
My education didn’t stop there—I've pursued various types of face reflexology, fascia work, face sculpting, and mindful meditation. In one way or another, every piece of training focused on flow, and my skin philosophy evolved into one that supports our skin-body flow, rather than the conventional theory of force and suppression.
It’s all connected—qi, blood, lymph, emotions—it’s all about flow.
In the treatment room, my focus became all about nervous system calming, somatic therapy, nature-connected, whole plant, spa medicine-inspired care. Every year, I grow deeper into this philosophy.
All that I've learned (and continue to learn) has shaped the beauty and effectiveness you experience in your facial sessions with me—both in the treatment room and virtually.
